Finally Telling Someone

Bisexual / 40-49 / White / Catholic

I have been happily married for over 20 years. I have kept my sexuality a secret for 30+ years. Until yesterday. I felt the need to come out as bi to someone. I have known for a long time that I am. I had many girlfriends and a few boyfriends along the way. Never really knowing what path to choose. But life made that decision for me. I married a beautiful woman and raised a family.

Yesterday I was talking to an old friend and asked if I could tell her a secret that I have kept to myself for a long time. I knew she would understand. When I told her I was bi, she said “I know. I always knew.”

She talked about her experience with her daughter coming out as bi and let me know it was going to be ok. She gave me confidence in myself and said she was proud of me for coming out.

This is just the first step in a long path to self acceptance.
