Submit Your Story
We can’t wait to hear your story! But first, some business to attend to. Our priority is to deliver impactful, authentic stories, which means we want to leave you with as much flexibility as possible to tell your story your way. We also want to deliver content that is consistent with our goals and easily-digested by our readers. With this in mind, we have the following guidelines:
Aim for 700 words or less. Anything significantly longer will need to abridged. This is the hard part. Your story is personal and it’s easy to get wrapped up in the exact details as we relive these very important moments of our lives, but your story will only help others if they bother to read it – all of it. This brings us to the next guideline.
Be targeted. Your audience might be the entire internet, but that doesn’t mean you should write to everyone out there. The goal of sharing your story is to write it in a way that makes it relatable to someone else who might be in a similar position now. Think of it like writing your story to a younger version of yourself.
Tell the truth. This is important for a lot of reasons. We don’t want to shame other people in your story. We also don’t want to sugar-coat the realities of what can sometimes be an extremely challenging experience. Tell your story your way, but be authentic.
Use the tags. The website is designed to make content easy to filter. Just type in the word or phrase you want to tag then hit Enter. No need to include hashtags.
Help Others Find You. The search function of the website will scan your story for keywords. Are you writing about how living in a certain place impacted your experience? Writing about the role religion played in your life? Be sure to use those words in your story so others will find it.
